Showing symptoms of COVID-19

If your child has symptoms of COVID please keep them home and use one of the home COVID tests to test. If your child cannot attend school for any reason, please email attendance@muscotanewschool.org

For students with symptoms, day 1 is the first full day after symptom onset (Day 0 is the day of symptom onset).

Those with symptoms may resume attending school after the day 5 (on day 6) if:

• They are fever free without fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and their symptoms are improving1; AND

• They wear a mask through day 10 (day 1 is the first full day following symptom onset).

For those that had no symptoms, day 0 is the day they were tested (not the day you received your positive test result) and Day 1 is the first full day following the day they were tested—if someone develops symptoms within the 10 days of testing the clock restarts at day 0 on the day of symptom onset.

Those with no symptoms may resume attending school after the day 5 (on day 6) if:

• They wear a mask through day 10.

REMOTE LEARNING WHILE ISOLATING OR QUARANTINING

We are grateful to have many tools to be able to continue their engagement and learning when they are home with you. I hope that they stay healthy and the isolation passes without incident.

Every morning that they are isolated or quarantined, if they feel well enough, please log into Google Classroom and comment on the morning question by 10:00 am at the latest. Your child’s classroom teacher may post additional assignments for your child. You should always spend some time on Zearn and some time on Razkids (K-2) or iReady (3-5) for reading. We always encourage other reading activities and things like cooking or imaginative play together that work on a variety of skills.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s any tech support you need, especially if you need your child’s password reset for their DOE username, or need a device or internet access for your child to be able to participate.

PREPARE FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR

1) Set up your child's NYCStudents account. This account will be the way that your child accesses Google Classroom and many other programs for learning. Follow the instructions on the DOE site here. You will need your child's birthdate and OSIS/Student ID number. If you don't have your OSIS, you can email Martha at mlangmuir@schools.nyc.gov.

2) Set up your NYC Schools Account. this is the way that you, as the parent/guardian, will access your student's school records - attendance, report cards and such. Please email Denise drodriguez15@schools.nyc.gov for the creation code and instructions for this account.

3) Check your student's device. If you need a device, please fill out the device request form here: https://coronavirus.schools.nyc/RemoteLearningDevices and then email us your child's name and grade at techhelp@muscotanewschool.org so we can make sure you get the devices you need.
